I'm annoyed. I've had **3** interchangeable needles break (the wood comes out from the metal). This is SERIOUSLY annoying because two of them are my US7 & US8, my two most used needles. I am so so so super annoyed right now. :miffed: I have to wait two weeks to get my replacements, because it will take so long to ship.
I am happy that I don't have to pay for new ones, but if I want to keep knitting I'm going to have to go buy some cheap ones anyway. :baby1:
I wish I would have bought the nickle ones.

I have been looking at the wood ones. I really dont like metal needles but if the wood ones are breaking then i might cinsider the nickle.

When I called they said they had a bad batch of glue. For me, it's more annoying to have to wait, so the nickle would have been better... but if you can get shipping from them faster, the wood ones are really nice.
Can you Krazy Glue the wood back into the metal so you can use them? I don't have the interchangeable Harmony needles, just the regular circs so I don't know.

I can't stand wood, so I haven't tried the harmony, but I LOVE the nickel.

how long will they do a replacement. If you have them...lets say a year...will they replace them?

I've only had one do that in the year I've had them. I heard the nickle ones pop out too.

I have no idea what their warranty is. It's probably a year, that's the standard on warranties (IME).
I could crazy glue it back together if I had some :giggle: Maybe I'll ask my FIL to bring some with him tomorrow - then at least I could use my needles until the new ones come!

Really? That's a total bummer.

That's what I was thinking, at least they would be usable until the replacements come.

Weird? I hope they pulled the rest of the bad batch they have. I have had my harmonies at least 2 years, and they never even come unscrewed from the cord while knitting(which my BOYE set does CONSTANTLY! grr) I love them so much.

That's a bummer. They're so pretty! I was just about to order several of the fixed ones and some double points. Maybe I'll just get a couple for now to see how they work...

I have heard others are having the same problem on raverly so I would be inclined to agree with the bad glue problem. I agree with trying to super glue them back together till your replacements arrive. I love my nickel set!

I forgot to ask for super glue last night :( I'm sure I can get some at the store today.
I'm currently knitting a project that needs US9, but I'm super nervous while I knit. I'm worried that I'm going to break these ones too! :teehee:
If I break more, do you think that they would replace them with the nickle ones?
elabela

I think they probably would if you asked, they seem to have really good customer service from my experience! I think they would rather replace them with nickel, than lose you as a customer!

Good to know. If any others break, I'll probably go that route. I really love the harmony wood, but I'm not willing to keep doing this, you know?

For sure! It's one thing that would drive me crazy too, having to stop until you get more!

:( That's so disappointing! My 8's broke right out of the package. They replaced them quickly, but I'm not in Canada either.
They suggested that I use gorilla glue to fix them so I could continue knitting til they arrived. SO far I haven't had any more trouble (thankfully).

This is IT!!! I'm so upset. I've had 2 more needles break on me. I am calling them tomorrow and giving them a very serious piece of my mind. I am going to ask them to replace my set with the nickel set and either refund me the difference, or give me a product credit for the difference (like, some longer cables would be nice). Half of my set has had a broken needle! That is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! I would understand if one or two broke, but 5??? FIVE?? No, that's just absolute crap.

That's awful!
I have had a total of two so far. When the last one broke I sorta wiggled all the rest to test them a bit. They seemed fine.
Bri super glued my 2nd set back together and they stayed just fine (but I still had them replaced).
I LOVE my harmony needles but you're right it IS super frustrating and a huge hassel.
I hope they give you what you want!

I have my broken ones coming in the nickel version. According to the website, they look like they're actually more expensive than the harmony, so I guess I'll just have them replaced as they break. The girl sounded super busy and a bit flustered, so I chickened out of asking her to replace the whole set.

:bighug: That totally stinks that they keep breaking. Was it that bad batch they were talking about a little while ago? I'm glad they're replacing the broken ones for you, though.

I have heard that is happening a lot with them. I don't have interchangable but I do have harmony's. I have big ones and I don't use them very much so they haven't broken. I am glad they have good customer service though! I love my Addi's though!

It's not even how much you use them because when I took my 8's out of the package I cast on less than a dozen and they fell apart :(
I think their glue job just isn't good on a lot of them :(

Yeah, they said their 8's had a batch of bad glue, but I've had my 7, 8, 10, 10.5 & both 11's break. I am glad that they're sending me the nickel instead. Hopefully I won't have as many problems in the future.

Do the wood ones feel like the bamboo? I cant stand my metal needles. I really like bamboo.
Rhonnie
04-21-2009, 02:02 AM
I've never used bamboo...but they feel different than metal to me.
Katiebear
04-21-2009, 07:31 PM
No, they're not like bamboo, but they're not like metal. They're much harder than the bamboo, but not cold like metal, if that makes any sense.

have you tried addi's??
Katiebear
04-27-2009, 01:19 AM
Yes, I have the #7's I bought from you! ;) But I really love the cable on the knitpicks ones - it's much more flexible and never kinks up.
I'm unsuccessful at getting my turbos to straighten out :( Any tips? I've tried under the tap with hot water.

:lmao: i have a HORRID memory!
i've heard to dip the cable in a pot of near boiling water then lay it flat with a weight on it.

Don't worry! I once had a transaction with you going and a transaction with madebymommy going and I ALWAYS had to double check which one of you was which! :lmao:
That sounds like a lot of work. Do you just knit with yours all kinked up?
