I want to make THIS (http://tikkifabricaddict.blogspot.com/2008/07/oriental-lily-dress-pattern.html) for my niece who is due in May. They live in NC so I'll be making the 9 month size. I don't have 8ply dk weight yarn but have worsted weight I got from a peace fleece co-op. It calls for size 4 needles with the Dk weight.... what size would I use with worsted? Do you think I should just buy Dk weight and knit it like the pattern calls for?

I have no advise for you because I do not knit yet but I wanted to say I love that pattern. I bet it will be so cute!

I'd stik with dk weight or a thinner worsted. IMO the thinner yarn will be better to wear as it warms up.

If you size up to a worsted weight, you should size up your needles as well, otherwise the knit fabric will be really thick and uncomfortable to wear. You'll have to adjust the pattern for your gauge. Don't forget to do a swatch to figure out how to adjust it.

I made that, I  it btw.
I did size up to worsted and sized up to size 7 needles. It worked out fine and I didn't even have to change the sizing. Try it and check your gauge, if it affects the gauge then you can adjust your sizing accordingly. It's an awesome pattern and is really cute :)

and there you go. It's always a good idea to check your gauge to make sure.

That is absolutely adorable, and I can't wait to try it myself. ohhhhhh....I need to get things knitted for the congo and then I am making this for DD!

Thanks for posting it :hapdance:

Dana, no advice - my craftiness is only paper and event planning related, however, I LOVE that dress!

I know my post is extremely useless!
