Tomorrow is my dd's first IEP meeting. I am very nervous about it. We find out how many minutes she will pulled out of class for more intensive help. I am so scared that she will just get lost in the sped classroom since she is so little and is such a good kid. Wish us luck that this will help her in school.

Gl! :hugs: and, remember, you do not have to sign/agree for anything if you are not comfortable with it. She is entitled to have a LRE. Sometimes you have to fight for that.

ugh i hate IEPs. when dd was in early intervention we had IFSPs every 3 months and it killed me. i know my dd has significant delays but i don't want my nose rubbed in it for 2 hours! the EI ones were better though, they were interested in doing what was in dd's best interest. now in school everything is a struggle. ugh.
:hugs: i hope it goes well.

This is how it was when Logan was in preschool. His case manager knew him and saw him regularly. Now that he's in kindergarten, his case manager doesn't even know who he is. She's going to have no idea what's in his best interest at this meeting. Sorry to hijack, OP.

Aww...when I met with the school for E's 504, I was really nervous but in the end it made me feel so much better. She gets pulled for writing/reading and math for 30 min each. I know she's getting the help she needs though. There are plenty of kids just like her!

Thank you all. My dd has Auditory Processing Disorder which there is no fix for. But I know that she needs more small group help then what she gets in the regular classroom. I will let you guys know how it goes. I am just so nervous, too bad I have to wait until 2:00 for her meeting.

It went really well today. She will only be pulled out for 30 minutes a day and still have some reading in the regular class which is what I was hoping for. I feel so much better now that she will be getting the help that she needs. She will also have 20 min two times a week for speech. This all goes into effect next Monday.

im glad it went well! sounds like she's getting great services! is she getting individual speech or group? we are so short staffed for the amount of speech kids on the case load that dd only gets one weekly session and its not even individual. :( i guess its ok since she really needs intensive private therapy for her articulation anyway, but i wish the schools were better funded. :sigh:
