Losing a nail

Okay, so I broke my big toe on Friday. I pretty much crushed it...its broken in like 3 places. And the whole nail has blood underneath. My toe looks like its gonna pop right now. I'm pretty sure the nail is getting ready to start coming off. It's pretty nasty. Not to mention it hurts like hell. So, my question is this...has anyone ever lost a toenail before? Does a new one grow back? Or am I gonna have totally weird looking feet for the rest of my life?

Shawn has had one of his toenails removed on 2 separate occasions and it grew back badly the first time. This time it seems to be going better. In the meantime he's gonna have a weird looking toe lol. It takes around 6 months I think for the nail to grow back fully.

I lost a thumbnail when I was a kid. It grew back totally normal but I don't remember how long it took.

I have lost finger nails and toe nails. One toe nail was cut off for ingrown toe nail and two others were ripped off while I was being a kid and running wild with no shoes outdoors. All of my nails have grown back, even though the dr said the one they cut out wouldn't.

so long as the nail bed wasn't destroyed or severely damaged, it should grow back. it's a slow process.

Thanks guys...does anyone know how long a sublungal hematoma should bleed? They put a hole in my nail on Saturday (the day after it happened) to drain a little of the blood out. They didn't get much out of it. By yesterday, as I said, my toe was like a sausage that was about to explode. I decided to open that hole back up and it drained a ton and felt SOOOOO much better after. This was about a half hour before I went to bed last night. I woke up this morning to my toe looking like a sausage again. I drained it again this morning and I can already tell its filling up again. WTH...this happened 4.5 days ago now. Shouldn't it stop bleeding????

hmmm not sure about the clot but my big to got smashed and fell off but grew back ormally. U would never know it fell off. It was summer so I usd to put a bandaid on it and paint it so it looked like a nail was there. I was young and vain back then then

It should grow back but it might not grow back the same. I lost a thumb nail and when it grew back, it has all these funky grooves in it.
