What do you mean by a master grocery list? Do you mean, like what's on your list every week? We have a notebook we have named, "the book of lists." :giggle: In it we have a page for all kinds of places we go, like Lowes, Wal-Mart, Costco and the grocery store. We keep running lists for each place and then when we go there we just rip the list out and go. It's working pretty well to help us remember the things we think of randomly that we need. Before we started it we would think of these things and forget them by the time we got to the store. :shakehead:

yup we have a master one of things we get just about every week (sometimes not depending on the price), well it's more of a master pantry list of things that get used regularly.
baking supplies (including various bread flour, baking powder and soda, cornmeal, extracts, chocolate chips, yeast, etc)
bread products (including tortillas, hot dog buns, hamburger buns, etc)
canned/jar/dry goods (including spaghetti sauce, gravy, tuna, pasta, beans, oils, fruit, etc)
cereals including cheerios, kashi, kix
pre packaged (including polenta and rice)
non fridge veggies (onions, potatoes, sweet potatoes, in season squashes, etc)
fridge stuffs (eggs, milk, cheeses--shredded and sliced, etc)
meats (chicken, beef, turkey, fish)
freezer (veggies, fruit, butter if it's on sale or we hit up costco)
fresh veggies/fruits (bananas, carrots, various color bell peppers, cabbage, in season fruits and veggies)

I tried a master list (thanks to FLYLady), but it was too overwhelming. I just keep a running list on a dry erase board and have certain things I get every time (milk, yogurt, cheese - geez, I should just buy a cow).

I've switched to this since I made this thread :teehee: It's a lot easier and I can relate, about the milk.

I pretty much have a master grocery list. Its in my head though :teehee:
The things I always buy are:
2 gallons 2%
2 gallons whole milk
1 gallon rice milk
3 dozen eggs
cheese
lunch meat
rice
broths
chicken & meats
tons of vegs & fruits
yogurt
sour cream
butter
cottage cheese
I could go way more into depth, because my shopping trips are HUGE, but I'll save you that lol
~~~~~~~
Oh, and Ive also told my DH that we need a cow & some chicken to keep these kids fed :lol:
Not really. There are things we always need (milk, bread, juice, lunch fixing, etc.) but I just keep a list of what we need on a pad of paper on the fridge. When I use the last of something or plan a recipe that will use more of something than I have, it goes on the list.
I like the book of lists idea. We have to go to three different grocery stores to find all of the brands and items we like. Ugh.
