Okay, so last Friday DH and I went to a water park. We were in the wave pool and I was in the deep end having a good time. Well, dh kept telling me to be careful so I came into the shallow end where he was so he would stop worrying. The moment I got up there with him I got hurt! Anyway I scrapped my foot pretty bad and it hurts like heck. It seems like it hurts worse every day. Yesterday it was sore and all red around it and today it is more red and swollen. So here is my question - does this look normal? Or does it look like it may be a problem? I have a really high tolerance for pain, but this thing hurts. I just wanted some opinions. Thanks!

Have you used any peroxide yet?

Looks slightly infected. Neosporin and a band aid for a couple days ought to fix it up just fine.

Hot compress and you may need to go in and have it lanced. more then likely they will also give you antibotics. My youngest had one during the summer also and it just got more and more angry. Once we got it lanced it was so much better

the doctor told us it was a boil that got infected.

Not yet. I had heard that sometimes peroxide can make it worse because it kills the good skin too.

I'll try that and hope it works. We didn't have Neosporin so I put bacitracin on it and it burned.

I think it looks like a scrape that is healing. Looks perfectly normal to me. If anything, if it were me I might put some neosporin on it twice a day.

I agree with PP posters. It is healing and neosporin will help it along the way. You will not have to have it lanced, and peroxide is not a good idea either. I think the reason it is hurting so much, is because of its location, there is not a lot of skin or fat there, so it is more sensitive. GL and I hope you feel better soon.

Hey I am gonna be the lone dissenter...If it is getting worse and not better I'd go see somebody! It looks like there is a red ring around it which could be cellulitus! GL hon!

Exactly! my ds had one on his foot and thats what it started out as. in 24hrs it was so red/angry looking adn the center looked just like that.
I would def keep on eye on it and use the hot compress but that will get some of the puss (infection) out.

im guessing it is just slow healing and sore cause its on your foot. near the ground, where its dirty, and you flex your foot a billion times a day. and its summer., and your sweating alot. i agree with some of the pp ,. neosporin and a bandaid. or a drop of tt oil with a bandaid . unless it starts to really puss or get swollen and hot which are signs of an infection i woul;d just keep it clean and covered while its in shoes or the bed .....

It's probably hurting more because scabs and such seem to tighten as they heal. I agree with the polysporin/neosporin and keeping an eye on it. It doesn't look ☺☺☺☺☺ to me - that middle spot looks like you removed a chunk of top skin, not infection. Be sure to pay attention to it. If it gets really hot to the touch or you start to feel not-so-good, be sure to go in.

I have had soooo many booboo's on my feet and I've had a bunch that have looked like that. Def neosporin and a bandaid - doesn't look like cellulitis to me, I had that on my hand and it swells. It's just scabbed like that because there is such a thin layer of muscle and dermis under it compared to other parts of your body. It looks completely normal to me, just a little irritated, have you worn shoes at all over it? Any kind of friction against it will irritate it and turn it red as well. I am accident prone and almost always have at least one ouchie healing up at all times.

I had surgery on some toes when I was in grade 9.
They ended up getting infected and looked like little sausages.
Anyways... the doctor instructed me to soak my feet in hot salt water to draw out any infection. As hot of water as you can handle and enough salt to make it cloudy. Afterwards, let it air dry and then add some neosporin and a bandaid. Before bed, I would take off the bandaid and let it get some air - then re-apply with a bandaid in the morning.
