View Full Version : Would you be interested in a board fundraiser?

As mom just shared with us, the board is in need of funds. In this economy, I can imagine that I am not the only one that would have a hard time giving any substantial amount of money. I do, however, have plenty of things I can make and donate for sake of a fundrasier.

What do you think? Are you willing to participate? Any other ideas?

klen

totally willing to participate. I can't make anything worth buying though.

I can make a jewelry set, beaded.... necklace, earrings, and bracelet. I'd love to do that! :)
~~~~~~~
would we do it like a raffle or just set up the items to sell? I"m fine with either.. maybe doing it to sell makes it quicker and after a certain amount of days, whatever doesn't sell can turn into a bidding thing or something for a certain time period?
I think that's a good idea Kelly!
I'd rather my item sell for something rther than nothing and no money is donated.. .ike if it doesn't sell and its put up for bid and someone wins it for $2.. its still something.
Isis
I think it would be cool if we could do a live acution (sp) here on the board say starts at 8 let the item be preveiwed and then people can bid in a thread for say 30 minutes and at the end it goes to the winner. I don't know I think it would be fun watching it.
I'm already making the nursing necklace set :) I figure evenif we don't do the fundraiser I can sell it to donate the funds. Its going to be a glass bead necklace, strechy bracelet and earring set.. glass beads in turqoise, aqua, brown, yellowish, olive green, and cream.. very pretty.
I could donate a mineral makeup pack with one foundation, one blush and one eye color!
Amber
10-19-2009, 10:43 PM
what if we did a "preliminary" auction here. that way our mamas here have first pick. we can have a seperate section for the items, and then each item has its own thread. then we can run an auction style listing. all of the "leftover" items can be placed on a hc store, and then we can have 24 hour auctions/ raffles. how does that sound?
Isis
10-19-2009, 10:46 PM
I'd buy a tutu!
I think prob. we'd need to send stuff in to a central person, like a coop or something, and only offer them once they were received. really don't want someone spazzing and not sending an item.
of course, that makes my photo restoration services hard to include, but whatev.
It can start adding up though to send stuff..
I donated an item to a charity auction on HC and I had to submit a picture, and then I was given the shipping info for the winner. We could do it that way
We could set up a thread somehwere on here and for a certain time period, let ONLY the sellers put up their posts w/ prices and such and then we can have a "grand opening". I know we can't do bidding that way - unless we can add one to the CDN WAHM HC???
It may get to be too much as far as shipping as well as for the person receives all the stuff if everyone sent their items to one person. Know what I mean?
What if the admins set up a new section for the fundraiser and bigs can be posted in each thread that is made for ea?h item donated? Would that work? That is how we did it on a site I used to moderate at. Let me know if I can help organize things :D
I've done something similar on another board and it worked really well. Like pp said, you have a pictures and details and you post a thread and people post bids, it ends at the stated time, they send the $$$ to Mom (or wherever) and then you ship the item.
Okay so far I have:
nursing necklace set, with bracelet and earrings - I made them last night but I just need the cord to put the pendant on.
a black necklace I made recently (unworn)- everyone seemed to comment on it whenI posted the pics of it so I figured I could donate it to sell.
I w ill make a few pairs of earrings for smaller purchases- people who want to donate but only have a small amount of funds to use - they can get something cute w/their money- I'd make them like $5 or something.
Out of curiosity, what about adding a "garage sale" area for those who aren't crafty? Maybe people who don't craft could donate things like diapers, clothes, etc? Just a thought...
As for shipping, why not set it up so a central person could keep track of who won/bought what and collect DC#s for the shipping.
I don't think that'd be a huge issue. Honestly, as long as your items bring in a fair price, how much shouldn't matter since the money isn't going to the individual, right?
