I'm thinking about offering this as a diaper inner, it's soft like velour, but truly a stay dry fabric since it is polyester. I think the soft nap it has makes it a bit nicer than suedecloth. I haven't seen many dipes around with this inside and wonder if it's even something people would be interested in. Thoughts? Would you buy fitteds w. crushed panne inners? Thanks for any input:)

I attempted to use it for wipes and although it was soft like velour, it is polyester which means that in my experience with it, liquids beaded and rolled off.

Hm, so if it was the outter layer on the inside of the diaper, the pee would not get soaked into the adsorbant inner?

In my experience with it, water just beaded up and rolled off the edge. I'm not sure what would happen during diapering use, but based on my water tests it doesn't seem like something that would work well.

 now that I read my words in your quote, that's supposed to be absorbant, huh? :sigh: ah well, I refer to my siggy on that one. :teehee:

I've seen it before I think in a diaper, but Beth makes sense and I'm not sure I have that diaper anymore anyway to check out.

I have seen it in some diapers, but I didn't buy them specifically because the texture of it gives me the willies. It's just one of my hangups. :o

Honestly I wouldn't buy a diaper that had panne. But that's me.

Maybe the pressure of the child inside may push it down? IDK?

Yes. I've seen covers with CP, but not diapers.

I've used it in some diapers I made for DS.

i saw it inside of covers but never diapers....if it is water resistant it would make a good outter layer like a fleece layer would  but if it is 100% polyester than i really dont think it would work well as an inner

When I first started CDing, I bought a couple no-name pockets that the seller bought from an Etsy she couldn't remember. Anyway, the inner was crushed panne. They were my freakin' favorite diapers ever. :err:

I'm thinking that the crushed panne relies on compression for absorbing. Like with suedecloth if you pour water on it it will sometimes bed up as well.

and they didnt repel the liquid?

Hmmmm, maybe I'll experiment w. one this weekend and see how it goes on my lil guy. I'm curious now whether or not it'd work. I guess I just kind of assumed it would function the same as suede cloth.

I've seen it used before, but I prefer a natural fabric as an inner on my fitteds. :)

I think it works well, has great color choices, and it's cheap and available locally. It's a good option if you can't order online.

i agree. it beads up if their is no compression but does work well inside dipes

I really like them! They make great pocket stuffers and they're fantastic to just lay in a cover. I think the channels sewn in really help distribute the moisture so they last longer

i'm totally going to have to order some then once she starts sewing again..

I wouldn't either. Something about the fabric creeps me out. :looky:

I know a lot of diaper makers use it successfully in their diapers though :)

CP used to be one of the main inners used in diapers before microsuede was so popular. I had a ton of diapers with it and have quite a few pads with it.
Its a total PITA to sew with though. It works fine inside diapers, but it does tend to become threadbare quicker than other inners.

Sorry, suedecloth, not microsuede.
