I'm embarassed to admit that I think I have one. I've been using the shower at the Y and DH was floored when I admitted that I don't have shower shoes. He says we're going to get some today. I t hink I have a plantar's wart. Its a little hard lump right on the padding of my foot below my two smallest toes. its very tender to the touch and hurts when I walk.

crap.. I'm making a doctor's appointment this week.. they're going to have to cut it out of me, huh? eeeeeee

Nope! ou can cover that little sucker in clear nail polish and it will die! Or they can use liquid nitrogen and freeze it off! I highly suggest clear nail polish route first!

I had ones years ago. I remember that I had to dig all the seeds looking things out of it before it went away.

there aren't any seed things.. its just a small callous looking thng, but I can feel it underneath and its very tender. I will go to the doc just inc ase its a different kind and not plantar's.

They'd probably do the liquid nitrogen freeze- it's not that bad, really!

Underneath the callous are lurking . . . WART SEEDS! Bwahahahahaha!

I know, they're gross. The freezing off is ok. I've been trying the duct tape method, but I do it for a few days and then I get lazy and don't put any on it.

Duct tape. Seriously.

:yeahthat:

DH used it for a wart on his finger after reading it online. There's something in the adhesive that kills the wart.

OMG I would be soo creeped out if I got one just for that reason. I would probaly cut off my foot.

(not really but it would freak me out that bad!)

I had a wart ONCE when I was very young - like 13 or so. It was near my knee. I accidentally shaved it off and it came back and t hen I accidentally shaved it off again and it never came back.

this sucks. I'm getting shower shoes for the gym!

Hmmm. After you go to the doc, LMK what they say. DD has something on one of her toes that we have had looked at by a foot doc but he was like-lets just watch it :looky: but I'd be interested in knowing what they say.

My son has these, we just dig out the seeds and use the discs covered by discs stuff.

Do NOT be alarmed if after you dig out the seeds, it bleeds and bleeds. You want this, that means you got the whole seed out.

They have stuff at the pharmacy (no script needed) that'll freeze that b!tch off too

They freeze it and scrape it off. If it is too deep they have you trim it off a bit with nail clippers and freeze it again. It's not too bad, esp. if you catch it early.

I had one on each foot when i was in middle school. They had to dig mine out. They were very deep. I had to have internal stitches and external stitches that is how deep they were. i would definately get to a doc fast. I was young and didnt have a choice in the matter. We tried all the OTC stuff before going to a doc. I think we waited to long that is how they got so bad. GL They are very painful.

Eww, all those comments. I can't deal with the blood.

I had one on my heel for like a year in college. That will teach me to shower at the fitness center. I would put tape on it, and ignore it when it didn't hurt. The big downside is that I got a wart on my wrist around the same time. I don't know if they were related, but I used the nasty liquid that you put on and cover it up. I found it worked best if I had soaked the wart for a while, then put the liquid stuff on. It will sting like a mother, but it goes away faster.
~~~~~~~
I also used the liquid on the bottom of my foot. Even though its not labled for that use.
I wish I had known about duct tape. I have also heard that works wonders.
I had multiple ones while in college. I first tried digging them out didn't work. Then tried the wart remover didn't work. Went to a doc and they tried freezing multiple times didn't work. Finally I had to have them all burned off by a pod. By this time I had I believe 4-5 on one foot and 2-3 on the other. That finally worked but it was no fun.
I got them back a year or two later and had multiple ones burned off again. I haven't had one since and pray I never do. Catch it early is all I can say.
I had 3 on the bottom of my foot and tried everything to get rid of them. My doctor even did the freezing thing and nothing worked. Until I got pregnant. The warts on my feet went away. It was weird!
So with duct tape-you just stick a piece on and viola??
You have to keep putting a new piece on it every day until the wart is gone. You can speed up the process by soaking and filing it a bit before you put new tape on.
I"m battling a really deep one right now. So far it's been burned off, cut out, and burned off again. It's still there! I'm seeing a dermatoligist. He wanted to burn it off again, but I begged and pleaded to try the OTC stuff. We've been doing this since June and I'm so tired of having a hurting foot!! So follow PP's advice and get it checked out early before it goes deeper!
It's so gross though!! I remember going to the derm. to get my moles checked out. I had a mole on my foot I wanted him to look at and he says, "The mole looks fine, but you have warts all over your feet!" I said "WHAT!! Those are just callouses!!" But apparently they weren't. I had the creepy crawllys and didn't even want to touch my own feet! I can only imagine how grossed out Adam was!!
I had a couple while pg with my first and I took care of all but one on my own, but that last one was my nemesis and would not die. Once she was born I kind forgot about dealing with it, although it did hurt. What eventually made it disappear was the round of diflucan I took for thrush.
One of our boys had one on his fingers (multiple fingers, multiple warts) off and on for a while... I think he may have even had one when we got him... Can't remember back that far...
Anyway, his ped told us to use an emery board (for your nails) and rough up the outer layer of the wart and then put some of that liquid wart remover on it. THEN cover it with duct tape... and do that every day until the sucker falls off. Works like a charm!! Seriously! We even tried "hexing" them but that just didn't work for him.
One of our DD's now has one on the bottom of her foot and we can't get in to the pod until January... I'm thinking of using the home remedy to start out with b/c now it's hurting her. Gross!! I hate warts!!
I got stuff OTC. Doc said it'll work but just take time. She said I can come get it frozen off if I want. I can tell its alraedy working though. I got it early enough that its not so bad, I think.
I had one that I dealt with for 4 plus months. Once I put some duct tape on it it was gone in a matter of two weeks.
Shoot, now I feel really stupid that I've let mine go for waaaaaay too long--like a couple of years? It's probably taken over my brain and I'll never get rid of it.
I read that it should die in a matter of a few weeks.
Its also part of the HPV family.. are all warts part of HPV?
Yup. That's what i used. It worked like a charm! I think that dr. scholls makes it. It's pricey, but figures out to be cheaper than a doctor's appointment for them to do it.
Dorothy had one. It was OTC resistant. It kept the warts from spreading but didn't actually get rid of the seeds. She ended up having surgery to remove it, and our family doctor said it was the largest plantar wart he had ever seen in a child. I don't fuck around now, Dustin got one and we went directly to the doctor for freezing. Interestingly, when Dustin and Dorothy quit going to their dad's house, no more warts...hmmm...another posting I suppose LOL
My dermatoligist said they are a virus, but he didn't say anything about HPV. He said some people have a built in resistance to the virus, and do not get them. For instance, my mom does not get them. But my dad, my brother and me all have had them at various times in our lives. Since she is probably resistant, she never got them even though she was exposed several times. They are highly contagious if you are not resistant to them.
It's so weird and gross and bleh....I'm getting the chills just thinking about it again. I need to stop coming to this thread!
Last time one of my kiddos had a plantar's wart and we went to the doc to have it looked at, all they did was prescribe a medicine similar to what i could get over the counter.
With my last kiddo who had one and we did NOT go to the doc, I bought a kit that allegedly helps you to freeze it off. It seems to be working. IF that fails, I will go to a professional and demand they cut it off. Until then.... it is whatever it is.
