but I just can't! It is really knitting like barbed wire! The peace fleece saviing grace is that it's the only thing I"ll ever use for my kids mittens, you just ca't wear through peace fleece mittens. But WOW itls like knitting with barbed wire! I just finished my first pair of socks, and it was AWFUL! Although all felted up, they are the warmest slippers. . .but waaaay too painful to knit with.

Have you tried soaking it in some hair conditioner? It does wonders! :) You wouldn't believe the difference!

ITA about the pain - I have carpal tunnel and dry skin, and I need to alternate yarn-types now, or I end up in serious trouble!

I wanna see the slippers, BTW! :D

I so want to love Peace Fleece, too. I'm allergic to it, though.
I want to see those slippers :)

Yeah Peace Fleece is rough. Conditioning really does make it softer.

And a good moisturizing lotion on your hands before working will work too (I have soy lotion that's great...btw)

I dyed some peace fleece a while back, and I noticed that even with the wool wash that I washed it with after dyeing, it softened up tremendously. I wouldn't have known it was the same stuff, honestly. And I didn't even do a conditioning soak.

ITA - dyeing it and rinsing/washing makes a huge difference. I wonder what their process is when they dye the yarn at PF, because the natural undyed and the dyed yarns from them are all scratchy. It'd be nice if they could soak it in something, like some yummy wool wash! :)

Condition it first. And I usually wear some heavy duty lotion like body butter from bath n body when I work with it. I didn't find it all that bad.

It really does work wonders on wool! I just use some generic stuff from Costco (same stuff I use on my hair - nothing fancy). It's amazing!

I only touched it once and was not impressed. I've kept to other fibers since then.

Oh wow! I didn't know it was like that. Sorry it was so unpleasant to work with :(
