I would do it flat, because of the intarsia/color-work. It's really tricky to do that in the round. Of course, there's always duplicate stitch! :D

yea, that is what i was thinking, that the color work would be hard in the round. it would be cute with duplicate stitch too, i never really thought about that! Lach is in love with penguins so i promised to make it for her, and will make the R guy one too i think.

Actually, I would definitly knit that in the round. I've heard intarsia is much harder flat, as purling intarsia is really tough.

Duplicate stitch is when you make a design by knitting the whole item in a solid color, and the "going over" the stitches w/ a tapestry needle and new color(s) :) It's fun!
