Is anyone else taking them? How do you plan your schedule for the summer?
The reason I ask, is my DD3 is due on July 10th. I have the choice to do a few online classes, but none of them are really necessary. I have to have continuous enrollment to be able to enter the DVM program this fall, and since I've already been accepted, I don't want to jeopardize that. All of the classes I'm planning on taking are online, but require on campus mid-terms and finals. AND, the classes are staggered in start/finish times. One starts in May and ends in July, and two start in June and end in August.
Has anyone here ever had a baby in the middle of a term, and how did you manage it? I'm freaking out about popping her out on the day of a major test. I'm doing CR/NC just in case I do miss something, so I don't take a major hit on my GPA.
Or am I the only nutty one that thinks going to school in the summer is normal?

I've got everything ready to enroll for summer classes when they open the schedule. I'm going to go full time to bang out some prerequisites before fall.
But I don't have any advice on your situation. :hugs:

Could you take just one class over the summer? Would that take care of your continuous enrollment requirement? I'm taking summer classes but if I was due during the summer I would probably take none or the absolute minimum. I'm sure it would be possible to do for some people, and only you know your situation. Sorry I'm not more help.

To keep up enrollment, I only have to do one class. However, to keep my financial aid rolling smoothly from one semester to the next, I have to keep up a full time course load. I made the mistake of dropping one class last semester, and it put me at 11 units. That one unit screwed me out of a scholarship that would have helped tremendously this semester. With a huge program coming up this fall that is going to be pretty $$$, I don't want to risk losing any help I can possibly get.
I'm not too worried about course load though, I'm doing 18 units right now and cruising right along. 12 units of easy-peezy of stuff like History of Art and Anthropology doesn't worry me too much.
Going to campus preggo is fun though, it freaks out all the little freshman. They all walk 10 feet around me, like them coming near me is going to get them pregnant. I'll miss that....
My main concern is having a baby in the middle of the semester, and how it would be handled. I'm not planning on dropping the classes at all, but I know I'll have to miss some stuff.

If you have the support to get through the classes when delivering go for it. I'm not sure what type of school you're going to. Some have different definitions of full time for summer classes. And if your summer classes are shorter length than other semesters even easy classes can be intensive simply due to the speed taken to get through the material. Good luck with what ever you choose.

My financial aid was never affected by summer classes, I paid for them OOP after I had received all my financial aide for the year. I had never heard of a program requiring continuous enrollment either though, so i am not much help.

Talk to your advisor or the professor. You may be able to do a stop out for summer like I did when I had dd. It didn't affect financial aid. It was invented for situations like yours. We had a girl in class who had twins and she just had to make sure her final paper was in. But it varies professor to professor so you need to find out who your instructor is.

Meant to say find out who the professor is if you dont do a stop out

Im due at the end of May and I am taking one online class that starts May 10th and one in class that starts May 24th. However I've talked to the instructor and made prior arrangements to miss classes when needed.
Some people think I'm crazy, but I need to keep going. I am about OVER being in school!!
GL mama, you should be fine!

Oh, and I need to be enrolled at least 6 cr hrs to get my student loans, which is why I'm taking two not just one.

I was going to school when DD#3 was born. I was taking 2 online classes (i had to drop 2 campus classes because I got put on bedrest...) when she was born. I just let he instructors know what was going on and they were more than willing to work with me. I missed a few assignments and a test the week before she was born and the week she was born (I was in and out of the hospital all week because of preterm labor and then obviously delivering her) and they worked with me so I could make them up. DD#4 was in the hospital for several days this semester and again, I let the instructors know what was going on and they were all willing to work with me to make up what I missed that week. As long as you let them know what's going on, you should be fine. Good luck!

So I talked it over with the instructors of the courses I'm in for the summer. 2 were cool with it, and just said to keep them up to date, 1 still hasn't responded, and 1 pretty much said that short of being dead, he doesn't accept any late work at all. And of course, he had to be the one class that matters the most.
All of the classes are online, so I'm not stressing as much as I was before. I mean, most hospitals have Wifi, right?

I had my DD 2 weeks before this last semester ended. I worked ahead so all I had to do was take tests and submit the work.
I did take her into school at 5 days to take a final though :sigh:
Summer school is totally normal for me. This is the first summer semester I'm taking off and I'm 2 credits shy of my BA.

This.
I am only taking one class first summer semester which is 6 weeks with double time per week, equaling in the end a 12 week course.
My class is in sculpture. I am a fine art student - hands on 5 hours at a pop x2 week.
I have never cross pregnancy and classes together to offer any suggestions.
Best Wishes.
