So I didn't post much last week. I was so upset after seeing my eye specialist that I determined to get a second opinion. And oh was it worth it. The first doctor said I have Myopic macular degeneration and wanted to treat it with photodynamic therepy. Which is not the best treatment. On top of that he was rude and crude to me. And yelled at me when I asked a question. So I spent a couple days last week getting things worked out to see someone else. The only someone else available was in OKC, a two hour drive from here. Yeah still worth it. He was awsome, very knowledgeable, and decent to talk to. He didn't hid the scans from me. He didn't freak at the breastfeeding, not thrilled but workable. Anyway it looks like i have a eye disease called Uveitis specifically Punctate Inner Choriadapothy. An auto immune disorder. First line of treatment was a steroid shot in my eye and I go back in a couple weeks to see how its reacting to treatment.

I'm so glad you got a second opinion and that it was with a decent eye doctor. I really hope the treatment works for you and that everything works out wonderfully! I've been thinking of you and I'll continue to keep you in my prayers.

Oh Shaine! That's great news as far as it's maybe a little more treatable/manageable. I don't know how you managed a shot in the eyeball...you're totally my superhero for that one!
I'm glad you found a dr. who listens and is willing to work with you. Your other one needs a :manslap: for being a jerk!
I will be praying for great results!!!

I don't know what to do about the other guy. Fired him of course, but now should i file a compliant? What would you do if a wrong diagnosis cost you an eye?

Oh Shaine!!! I am soo happy to hear that!! I think a report would be entirely in order. That guy should not be allowed to treat patients.

Now, I'm not sure what auto-immune totallymeans - is there a chance your LO's could inherit this?

I am so glad that you got a second opinion :bighug:
Kelly- Autoimmunity is the failure of an organism to recognize its own constituent parts as self, which results in an immune response against its own cells and tissues.
I am all to familiar with autoimmune disease because I have one.
Shaine, Keep us updated!!!

Not in the way your thinking. But reading about autoimmune diseases leads me to see that them being girls will make them more succeptable to such things.
