I am so lucky. LOL I have a 13 and 11 (almost 12) year old boys who dont care if their clothes come from Walmart. LOL I do shop at Ross once in awhile to see if I can find some brand name stuff but mostly they dont care. Now my DD is starting to get into tready stuff like Hannah Montana and Miley brand stuff but that is still Walmart. She loves Justice and I shop the sales or clearance racks.
Ive found awesome deals there. My kids are lucky if I can spend $50 each on school clothes most years. lol

My son is in middle school and most of his friends wear sports team logo stuff or things from old navy/gap. I asked him if he wanted/needed Aero, A&F, etc. and he said that the kids aren't wearing it, well, a few, but not his friends.
I am a day late to the convo, but i like my kids to wear what is in style because i want them to fit in with their peers. ...and my dd is 8. She asked for stuff from Justice, and I bought her a few things. She doesn't want to wear it anymore either because it isn't cool LOL

*sidestepping the drama* my dd's wear gymboree. yep, that sounds snobby, but whatevs. they're younger, tho, and I expect they'll be in gap and such in middle school. we do gymbo b/c it's cute, it's cheap the way I buy it, and it has good, not great, but good resale. plus, they do the matching for me, so that helps.
I remember feeling very negatively about my clothes growing up - we were very poor and shopped at thrift stores, before it was cool. I never had a damn thing I liked until I started buying it myself. I rememeber how badly that made me feel. Now i watch how happy my older dd is to put on cute things that she is proud of, that make her feel happy, and that she takes great care of (for a 4 yo). we spend some good quality time shopping, too, just her and I. it's our mommy and ellie time. at times i have to curb some vanity, and i know nice clothes don't = self esteem, and I make sure all our together time is not spent in materialistic pursuits. It's just....since we have the means to provide her with nicer things, I really, really want to, because it just removes another level of crap that she has to deal with.

I have 4 dds, age 13, 10 1/2, 8 1/2, and 3.. dd1 loves aero, american eagle for shirts, jeans, she didn't care for brand names as long as they have the certain colors or style she like. She have many many aero tops and a couple of aero jeans, one shirt out of maybe 20, bought from aero store others are from Goodwill. I dont see much AE at goodwill but i did buy a couple from Goodwill, others are gift card from grandparents. dd2, didn't care for brand names but she's starting to like aero, she's only in 5th grade, not too picky tho yet.. dd3, don't care for brand names, she loves to dress up. dd4, i bought most of her clothes from Goodwill, babygap, gymboree, old navy, and some are cheap brand names.. Should check out Goodwill, never know what we find, its like finding a pin in a box full of haystack..
