I am so excited! My Mom was digging around in a closet and came up with these:
![]() ![]() They are traditional Nigerian baby carriers. They are about 17 1/2" wide and 87" long. Mom's college roommate was in the Peace Corps in Nigeria in the 60s, and brought these back for my her. I posted over on TBW because I couldn't figure out how to wear them, and I couldn't seem to find any info about them online. I had Mom ask her friend for more info when they got together recently... And her friend sent this along for me: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I also got a nice note with a sweet drawing showing how to wear it. Something like this: ![]() ![]() Obviously I need practice. ![]() She also wrote in her note that it was very rare to hear babies crying. And, "for all I know now they use strollers and Baby Einstein discs."

very cool. I love it when people have traditional ones. A mom once had a back carrier that had a board for the back and it was all beaded. I think she put her baby in it for fun, b ut didn't really use it. she hung it on the wall for decoration.

So cool! I have heard the same thing about never hearing their babies cry. Makes sense! They're always being worn and a boob is always accessible.
