Default cleaning up fire extinguisher powder..

Any tips? Here's the kicker, it's in my oven (don't ask!)! I've tried cleaning it 4 times, but the residue is still there. We have a 1k deductible so our HO insurance won't cover having it cleaned by a pro since we haven't met the deductible. If nothing else works I guess I'll have to call a pro. I miss my oven , it is pretty new too, we just bought it in april. Any ideas?

I just used soap and water. My DH did have to take the bottom plate off of the over though to get to it all. I did notice a smell the first few times I used the oven afterward though.

I just did a search and saw your thread! yeah, my oven looked like that too. Thank you! we took the fan off the back I didn't think about taking the plate off, but that makes sense. Did yours smoke up afterward? I've tried using it twice, the first time it smoked really bad, so I scrubbed it more and today it just smoked up some but yeah, the smell is awful.
here's what it looked like

it's the powder type extinguisher, not the foam. we vacuumed it first, and only soap and water. It's a self cleaning oven, the repair guy I talked to said not to use oven cleaner in it, but now I'm wondering if I should

LOL it is but I'm scared to run the SC function, I'm worried it might be toxic? I really have no idea though. The powder kind of irritated my skin when I sprayed it

yeah BTDT

I never used the self cleaning feature on mine. I was scared too. But yes, it did smoke a little for the first few uses and smelled funny. But it's fine now.

I would try using dawn to clean and maybe let it sit for a while.

I don't use the SC feature on mine either because I"m afraid of it as well to boot having to call my friends in to clean up a fire is a major incentive not to use it.

Lol I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is afraid of self cleaning. Nothing else cleans itself in my house, why would I trust the oven

I looked, it's an ammonium phosphate extinguisher. Dawn is a good idea, I'll have to get some! Maybe whatever is left will just burn off
