I just bought it, it seems promising, similar to my own (but honestly, how different can diapers really be from each other??). I know they have an AIO pattern separately too. DS is a super soaker and they have a tutorial for an overnight mod to the pattern that I wanted to try. I bought some of the materials right from very baby to give it a go, I have to run them through the wash tonight. If you want to hold off a few days I can try to post pics of my initial run through?

I know they have some suggestions for materials on the site as well, I bought hemp and bamboo to try for inners, suedecloth and velour for lining, minkee and printed cotton interlock for outers. I'm on a quest to create the PerfectPeeProof Diaper (TM).

Other than very baby itself, I have gotten diaper fabrics from kids in the garden a few times and had great service, very reasonable prices on PUL and fast shipping. I just ordered my bamboo from coveredcaboose yahoo group, and so far had great service but ordered too recently to have gotten my fabric yet.

Lengthy but hope to have helped a little?

It is a good pattern with pretty-good instructions. It was the first one I bought when I first started sewing CDs. I second kidsinthegarden for PUL and micro-fleece. Their CS is great and prices are reasonable.

I have the over night diaper by VB but no pattern. I do create diapers tho and find that the VB diapers the elastic isn't super tight on the legs

I did a test run tonight, just using flannel and fleece to make sure I had the right size before I dipped into the good stuff. I'm slightly underimpressed?, I may tweak it some. It might work out better with a serger, I turned/topstitched. I did cased elastic, and did notice that the fit wasn't great, my thinking is because there were several layers of fabric all the way up to the edge, maybe a downfall of the simply nights construction. (I wanted practice with that variation since that's the reason I bought the pattern).

The only thing I actually disliked was the front elastic, otherwise it was fine. I'm supposed to be getting my serger end of this week or early next though, so I'll probably set the rest of my fabrics aside and try it again once that arrives.

Pics of the finished product aren't as good as I hoped for, I used pawprint inner fabric and brown fleece, it doesn't show up well in the photos:

Hope that helped a little at least. I'm not sure if you'd be serging or if you care about the simply nights varieties. It does seem serger friendlier though.

Are you a fold over elastic fan or no? (I'm not personally). I know there's a couple of those for AIO style but I haven't tried them myself.

Trimsies! Great pattern. If you want a OS Rita's Rump Pocket is good, too. RRP is free, too. It's just held together with a pin rather than snaps. Fattycakes is pretty good, too.

ok ... a few things

1. snap or aplix or no closure (use pins or snappi)
2. OS or sized
3. AIO, pocket, fitted, AI2
4. front closing or side closing
5. serged or turned and topstitched

I've been sewing diapers for my children for 5 yrs now. I have tried NUMEROUS patterns and they all have their good points and bad points. Knowing how other diapers fit your child will help you out tremendously.

RIGHT NOW for my youngest this is my favorite combination

I use a pattern I drew up bc let's face it I have a big boy and the others just don't go big enough. It is similar to the RRP but slightly bigger.
I cut three layers for the body of the diaper. 1) cute knit outer 2) hidden layer w/some body (either sherpa or fleece) 3) obv inner
I turn and topstitch these together.
I add snaps across the front and on the wings.
I also add snaps to snap in a soaker or two or three
for the soakers I serge 3 layers of soaker material together for the top soaker (OBV, cotton fleece x2) for the bottom soaker I use old premium prefolds then when I apply the snaps I snap through both soakers at once so they snap in together but my serger doesn't hate me for trying to sew too many layers at once.

oh and for cotton fleece ... scour your local thrift stores for 100% cotton sweatshirts ... great way to recycle ... knit outer ... use old tees or polo style shirts

alrigthy

1. aplix for now on AIO/AI@ (if I get good and what a snap press later on we will see)
2. I prefer sized for AIO/AI2 (favorite diaper being a dream eze though I havent tried many brands of AIO) for fitteds I like both I love my BSRBs
3. fitteds or AIos
4 I think front
5. I fdont have a serger and dont see it in my affordability unless I made profit off my sewing which I am not good neougha t this point IMO

I do have quite a few prefolds in infant size

oh I also have some apliz in various colors I think its 1.5 inches wide and I know I will want laundry tabs

ok ... start w/fitteds then and get your sewing and pattern down pat before attempting AIOs bc honestly they are harder to get the PUL just right and make them waterproof so start w/fitteds and get that down pat before moving on (or at least that is what I would do)

for patterns try the RRP, ottobre has a free pattern, and you can always trace any diaper and make a pattern from it. just add 1/4-1/2 inch all of the way around for seam allowance ... you can also do a lay in soaker for now to help it dry quicker ... and one more thing ... there are now snap pliers that some are using that are much cheaper than a snap press so you can always go back and convert the aplix ones you like from aplix to snaps later
