Default To get over a cold faster....

Try making some onion syrup. I know it sounds weird...it did to me too, but it is actually good. It is an old Polish thing and cuts my cold recovery down significantly.

So take a few onions, chop into small chunks, put into a bowl and sprinkle on a few spoons of sugar, mix a bit and cover. Leave for at least a few hours. Then drain out the syrup and take a few teaspoons every few hours.

Oddly enough it produces no onions side affects. I get gassy If i eat raw onions but from this there is nothing. And it does work. It also actually tastes good.

My stepmom does this, she swear by it too! She wanted to make it for my kids the other day since they are all sick but we declined, maybe we will go ahead and try it.

I tried red, but the onion juice just doesn't seem to come out as much or as well. I usually use just plain old white or sweet onions.

Also after I drain the syrup, I sprinkle more sugar and do it again. I can usually do it 3 times.

Does the sugar help pull the juice from the onion or something? I don't think I've ever seen any onions I've leftover in the fridge get juicy.

You can also use garlic and tons of Vitamin C to bowel tolerence. It works VERY well.

I've read about making the onion syrup, adding oil infused with garlic, and adding cayenne pepper to tomato juice and making a tea. I've only tried the cayenne in tomato juice. I thought the onion would give kicking breath, but if you say it's okay, then I'll try it for my next cold.
