Default Gerber prefold premium 6-ply cloth diapers

Are Gerber prefold premium 6-ply cloth diapers any good? They're the "diaper service quality." I got them from Target to go inside covers, and I'm just wondering how you guys like them if you're using them. (and whether I should return them if you don't like them)

They say 100% cotton on the package.

This is essentially it, but 6-ply instead: http://www.target.com/Gerber-Diaper-...n&frombrowse=0

Hmmm...they have pretty good reviews from people that seem to know what they're talking about. I say if they're 100% cotton, go for it.

I used them as prefolds when DS was a newborn. They aren't all that absorbent when compared to GDM and LL, but they are super soft - but I liked them for the newborn stage. I never used them as inserts since I use PF and wool, but I am sure they would do the job - just not as absorbent. Go for it. Wish I would have known though. I have a butt load of them still I could have sold for cheap.

Oops, meant GMD

I've never used those, but I've heard that they are "okay." If you can, I'd suggest that you just go to greenmountaindiapers.com or little lions and buy some that are known to be good quality. A dozen newborns cost about the same as two packs of those Gerbers (which look to be sold in 1/2 dozens from your link).

Thanks so much for the input! I do believe I am going to return them and then get the brands with better absorbency. Makes more sense if I'm making an investment.

they're not bad if all you can do is shop locally... those are the blue stitched ones... Hey T, depending on how much you want for them, I could take them off your hands... I make them into pre-fitteds.

we had 6 of the blue stitching ones from gerber, and yeah, they were OK. not fantastic. If you're looking to make an investment, I would def. go for the gmd's - the sizing on them is much, much better.

these are the bad ones:

that "absorbent pad insert"? that's the poly batting. and interestingly enough, it still says the material is cotton.

They worked for us in the newborn stage but never got really soft. We now use them in gDiapers or pockets. I found the fit to be awful once we got past 12 lbs. I really want to be a prefold girl but I'm just not.
I ordered some nicer prefolds from a diaper company that ordered too many and they were awesome, fluffy goodness. I agree that you should just save a little extra and get the good ones.

Just so you know, if you can buy the "Organic" Gerber Prefolds, they are actually only birdseye fabric. No batting or other stuff.

But they aren't enough layers to work well once you are past the newborn stage unless you double up. They are super easy to embellish though because they aren't as thick.
